SCOTLAND

Sooooo... I went to Scotland for a week. A very lovely excursion to the countryside. It was quite rainy which put a damper (no pun intended) on too much sight seeing but other than that a jolly good time. I was able to have an authentic Haggis dinner. Though the Vegetarian Haggis was a bit of a cheat. (I did have the real stuff also) I didnt think and tried to bring back some Haggis for my brothers but I guess after all that BSE stuff.. is that what its called again.. mad cow whatever, they wouldnt let me take it thru customs. Did meet a nice border guard and the sniffer dog but hey what can you do.. Spent a day in Edinburgh which was very windy and rainy and wind gusts of 87 miles an hour. But we did manage to see the castle (from a distance), get a bit of a picture of myself in front of some ruins and sit at the Elephant Cafe where Harry Potter was written. Was very amused by the bathroom sign in there " Out of Order (of the Pheonix)" Hahah.. nerdout! Also went to "House of Bruer" where basically people park their landrovers, tie their dogs up and buy tweed and hunting socks! very beautiful with the snow falling. had Steak pie for lunch mmmm... anyways.. look at the following pictures for more information! enjoy! (and pardon the terrible photo quality.. im a little deficient in the camera department currently

turn ur heads sideways cuz I cant figure how to rotate em and am too lazy to delete em.

So here yet again is another picture of dad which I could title "the last time we ever saw dad. Seems like I am getting quite a collection. These pictures are in a bit of backwards order but Im sure you all can just take that into consideration when you take a look at them.

A lake in Jasper named after an old lady like "Florence" Lake, "Mable" Lake, "Gertrudardencia" Lake.
Glass like, a beautiful spot for a post Thanksgiving day picnic

Some rather chilly hikers. x.

Town of Jasper from the top of the tram.

Well, it's taken me a MONTH to post the pictures of the cabinets that I said I would post in a day or two. And, if you can believe it....they still arent finished a month later YERG! Odly enough, they arent finished but they have stuff in them .

It seemed like a good idea at the time to paint all the white cabinets brown. Some white cabinets had originally came with the building so we decided that we would just use them for kitchen cupboards and then purchase any extra we needed and paint them all the same color so they would match. A helpful sales associate at ben-moore showed us the perfect kind of paint to use... a house mix called "black bean soup". With keen ambition, I started taking apart the cupboards. Excessivly using the drill to take out the screws just because it makes a neat sound. And thats where the fun ended... every single cupboard and door had to be washed and primed and painted. I cannot believe that two weeks later I am stillllll painting cupboards.. the term "black bean soup" will forever haunt my dreams. Anyway, the bro is up and is somehow installing them in about a tenth of the time it would take me. maybe this week i will see the end of them! will post a picture soon of the progres... believe it or not there has actually been some! flooring is ordered but will take about two weeks to get it. almost everything else is done in the main floor of the house ..like painting and walls and etc... just a bit of work in the basement and we will done the house! Photos to follow in a day or so.

interior serving and seating area BEFORE & AFTER painting

sorry for the poor quality on the pictures.. my camera is going downhill

view when you enter the cafe. serving counter and looking back into the kitchen. not a very big place!

an attempt to show all three colors in the cafe.

the main red wall on the right will have the menu board on it as well as some sinks and probably blenders. the wooden frame in front is to be the serving counter. down the hallway in the middle is where the bathrooms are and then there will be seating in the area in the left part of the picture

Lunch Break.

Day's Work and Camera

Fail to Impress.

Renovation Haiku

by: Marina

During.......(to be continued)

Front view of the store... I was a little shocked by how blunt the red was. I mean, I knew it would be blunt but not that blunt! Once we get the signage up, I believe everything will even out in the end. We still need to replace the stairs and put white lattice up under the porch and replace one rotten board on the right side....maybe one day a little cobblestone patio where the grass is in front, and a garden (next year) .... and.. and...

almost finished view from the back, wheelchair access to be added and red and green still to be painted.

Mystery stranger was very helpful! A very mosquitoey day for painting. I do believe we've donated most of the blood for next years mossy population
